Bundobust

Vegetarians and vegans in Leeds are likely to be aware of the culinary masterminds at Bundobust. Widely known as a game changing part of the Leeds independent food scene, Bundobust has widely become one of the best places to eat in Leeds for lunch. The lunch time offer is two dishes for £9, giving you the chance to try a couple of options as the menu is packed with delicious Indian street food.

The paneer tikka with mushrooms is a must-try delite, the bhaji butty a staple that never gets old. The layers of samosa pastry with chickpea, potato, onion, sev, and chilli sauce is a thing of wonder, we’ll leave it there but we could talk for hours about how great this menu is.

Falafel Guys

Tucked down on Granary Wharf on the side of the canal is one of Leeds’ hidden gems. Starting as a food truck out on Briggate to this permanent spot in SALT, Falafel guys are serving up chunky grilled halloumi fries, well flavoured (and beautifully presented) bowls of hummus, falafels and chicken shawarma.

There’s two main options to choose from: a wrap or a salad bowl, then you can select your combination of fillings, including three different types of hummus: original, charcoal and beetroot. You can also grab chicken wings drenched in sticky sauce, halloumi fries, or dipping posts on hummus. Another veggie spot, Falafel Guys is ideal for lunch time with the office gang, you might even catch a few rays by the waterside.

Little Bao boy

How can we talk about the best lunch spots and not mention the little bao counter tucker in North Brew Taps, Little Bao Boy. The Panko Aubergine, made from a vegan buttermilk mix with sesame crumbs, sriracha sauce, iceberg lettuce and spring onion is a stand-out on the menu for us. One bao is only £5 or you can grab 2 for £8, making it a very affordable lunch much better than your average meal deal. Little Bao Boy are always pulling it out of the bag with new specials and you can even grab gyoza, oyster mushrooms and cucumber salads to go on the side.

House of Fu

The House of Fu concept then began life in 2014 as a pop-up at Belgrave Music Hall and it went on to win ‘Best of the Best’ at that year’s British Street food awards.

The pop-up went on to appear at various venues and music festivals as the team looked to develop the concept with inspirational trips to New York, Tokyo, Portland and Los Angeles.

This is THE place to get your ramen fix, our advice is to start with the Original Fu Ramen and work your way down the menu.

Bruschetta

One of our latest lunch finds was Bruschetta, in the gorgeous Corn Exchange.

To start with the coffee is next level, but we’re here to talk lunch so we’d definitely recommend you try the bagels, the margarita toast is also a highlight, with its cheesy melty goodness.

These guys specialise in locally sourced ingredients with a French flare, and in such a historic location, you should add it to your places-to-lunch list.
